asphalt plant

AKZO NOBEL I
by Peter Goransson

One of three pictures of Asphalt processing plants made for AKZO Nobel Company in Imagine 4 dos.

I used my 133 mhz pentium with 32 mb ram for these pictures.

All parts in this construction where built solely in Imagine, except the coil which I did in Truespace.

I got the 2D drawings and 2D dxf files from the customer. Tried to use the dxf files in several different software but with no luck. It just went too slow or didn't allow me the level of control and alignment I required. I then decided to return to my favourite software, you know which, and loaded the drawings as backdrops in the different views and started modeling.

It all went smoothly with no slowdowns in the redraws during the whole process.

I depended on the escape-key rather frequently at the end of creation as the amount of individual parts where beginning to crowd the scene.

For the house and floor and also the green sink to the right, I applied a linear filter texture. The extremely important Global map was a skyline of Hong Kong (!) that I bleached out to a great degree in Paint Shop Pro.
